1st Day of Home School

Wow...the first day of home schooling was much easier then I expected and was a ton of fun. As I mentioned in my previous post the Calvert School has the lesson plan done for you. So I set everything up last night. Abba was so ready this morning and kept asking is it time for to do school yet? The lesson plan can be used by parents or in a preschool setting. The suggested time was nearly 3 hours but there was just no way I could make it last that long. In about 45 minutes we talked about the year, month, days of the week, weather, traffic signs, why we use traffic signs, colors red and green and sang a song. Oh and I introduced braiding with colored threads...they found this to be a challenge. They absolutely loved it, I should have started this months ago.

Now Abba attended preschool last year so I am curious if there will be lesson's that will challenge her or if this will be a refresher prior to kindergarten. And as for Kaylyn I will see how it goes. Due to her delayed language she is behind in other areas. She is just learning her letters and numbers but I am going to teach her right along with Abba and see how it goes. If anything she willingly engaged herself in conversation with us this morning and that will definitely help her with her speech.

When we completed the lesson:

Abba...Is that it?
Me...yes until tomorrow.
Abba...are we going to do this everyday?
Me...most days I said
Abba...YIPPEEE

It is funny though she tells all that they did in her old preschool. For instance we started out at a table and she said...at my school we sat in the floor. So we moved to the floor, it made her happy.

Have a good day!!

Sounds like they had fun. :-)

Do you plan to continue to homeschool the girls or is this just for preschool?

Some of my best days were homeschooling my boys...who are grown and on their own now. I hope you have as much fun as we did :)
