Ready for 1st Day of School...

Tomorrow is September 7th and my mommy life as I have known it is over. I became a mommy in March of 2006 and the moment my Abba was placed in my arms I knew I was finished working. I was fortunate enough to have the decision to be a stay at home mom and it has by far been the best choice for our girls. I am not a big scheduled person so we have just enjoyed doing what we like. Staying up late, sleeping late and just having fun and now that will all change, I must put us all on a schedule. And now that my first baby girl is headed off to school I have found myself tearing up when I think of her in school but the time has finally arrived. In June Abba turned 5 but we decided to hold off on kindergarten. She missed going to preK in 2009 due to our move to Louisiana so we just felt this would be the best option for her. We have enrolled her in a great private school and I am looking forward to watching her grow. Last week we met her teacher Mrs. Tammie and her classmates. Her class is made up of older 4 year olds and younger 5 year olds. There are 10 students in her class and by early October 5 of the students will turn 5. So I am thrilled that she will be with other children close to her age. Her class is also perfectly balanced in gender and race. So while I am sad for her to be a full time student I am excited to watch her grow. So I will send her off in the morning with a smile and cry once I safely return to my car and anxiously wait to pick her up at noon.

The above picture is her uniforms all ready for the week. The entire state of Louisiana wears uniforms, which I really dislike. I have heard all of the reasons as to why others love them but I disagree. I think it deprives them of their individuality and does not teach them life lessons. And I get that it makes things easier when it comes to picking out clothes in the morning but to me that is just part of growing up and learning about yourself. But that is just my opinion...unfortunatley we have to wear them as it is the rules but I must admit my Abba looks adorable. I cannot wait to post her 1st Day of School picture tomorrow.

Girls - lookin good!! I agree with you on the uniforms.. EBB had to wear them and now they both will be wearing full Catholic school uniforms.. EFP will wear the same jumper every day - cuz the shorts fell right off her tiney hiney! But I will say it is easier.. and it sort of manages some of the one-up-manship rampant here on LI.. but I don't have a hassle with EFP (never did) so that wasn't a concern for me.. EFP really benefited from Pre-school, she is so ready for Kindergarten academically.. but I worry she is so smart but sensitive..... I guess we will see. Good Luck tomorrow.. enjoy this milestone.. it was a long time coming.. but sort snuck up on us..

Hugs from LI, NY!

I know what a big adjustment it will be going to school! She will LOVE it and that will make you happy to send her. Think of all the time you'll get to spend with Kaylyn. She's never had you all to yourself!

We need to get together and let the girls play!! When the boys are in school, I'm always looking for something to do!!
