New Glasses...
Our girl looks so stinkin cute!!!
On Monday, December 5th, Abba went for an exam after complaining that she could not see the music note on her sheet music, she plays violin. I watched her for a bit and just felt she was struggling with learning the notes but she continued to tell me she could not see. It had only been 7 months since her last eye exam but I thought I'd better be safe than sorry. She went into the doctor's office and explained to the doctor how she could not see the music notes and that sometimes she cannot see because things would be opposite. For example she said when mommy is driving the trees switch sides and the buildings switch sides. Of course the doctor was onto her and asked me if she knew anyone that recently got glasses. I said yes that her cousin did. He went on with the exam and she squinted and squirmed trying her best to show him she could not see. Little did she know she was answering all of the questions right. He also dilated her eyes just to get a good look and confirmed that she has wonderful vision at the moment. Needless to say we had one disappointed little girl. Her doctor suggested that we get her a inexpensive pair of "fashion" glasses with clear lenses.
So she is proudly wearing her "real" glasses that she picked out all by herself. Of course she wants to wear them all the time and asked if she could wear them to school. So I told her I would talk to her teacher. She was so proud walking in the building this morning as everyone she saw told her they loved her glasses, of course she was wearing a smile from ear to ear. And to top it off her teacher was totally ok with her wearing them.
Some may disagree but for now this is right for our girl. It has given her a huge confidence boost and made her feel special. She tends to feel left out at times because her sister gets a ton of attention out side of our home that Abba notices. Kaylyn is really small for her age and people always ooh and aww over her cuteness or over her clothes. Abba also dresses really cute but Kaylyn is our girly girl and loves to dress up no matter where we go. Abba goes for comfortable cute, to which she says no one tells her she is cute. Kaylyn also has needs that require our attention, hearing aids and speech and I think Abba feels this. So we have to work hard at home to help her realize she is just as beautiful and special as her sister. So if this helps then so be it!!
My heart is full today knowing my girl is so happy with her choice.
